5 TIPS TO BETTER MANAGE YOUR STRESS BEFORE A PRESENTATION

? Palpitations, a lump in your stomach, the urge to leave the country…According to a study by the Brain Research Institute , public speaking is a real ordeal for 75% of the population. We call it GLOSSOPHOBIA (something to enrich your vocabulary and shine in society). ?

When it comes to public speaking, there are those who bend to the exercise (or have resigned themselves to it) and those who prefer to have a molar pulled out without anesthetic. If you fall into the second category, don’t panic: here are 5 tips to help you manage your anxieties and avoid ending up in the fetal position under your desk.

1?? POWER POSE ?
How about adopting the posture of Superman or Wonder Woman before public speaking? According to research by Dr Amy Cuddy, 2 minutes of power pose increases testosterone (dominance hormone) levels by 20% and reduces cortisol (stress hormone) levels by 25%. PS: It’s better to transform yourself into a masked vigilante in a place hidden from view than in an open space. ????

2?? THE ROUTINE KIT ?
No, we’re not talking about a backpack full of victuals and survival gear. Instead, you’ll need your own little kit to ensure you’re fresh as a daisy before the presentation. Toothbrush, toothpaste, Bach flower, deodorant, anything goes (as long as it’s legal)!

3?? ENVISAGE ALL SCENARIOS (or scenarii for the purists) ?
Plan for the worst and scout the scene (microphone not working, babbling, chattering in the front row, etc.) and you’ll be prepared for any eventuality. In short, stay “Aware” like Jean-Claude Van Damme. ??

4?? PREPARE YOU AND PRACTICE ?
If you’re a fervent procrastinator or believe in the miracle of the last minute, know that only works in the movies! Take the time to know your subject well and prepare your notes in advance with a few key figures to back up your claims. And above all, practice, practice, practice! Even in front of your cat can help. After all, it’s a very demanding audience.

5??AU DODO ?
Don’t underestimate the importance of a good night’s sleep, avoiding alcohol and turkey with chestnuts…to be on top form on D-day.
Enjoy your presentation ??
